Hi.

Glad you're here. I write from a faith-based perspective about creativity, work, family, and what not.

Putting Yourself Out There

Putting Yourself Out There

One of the most terrifying and uncertain feelings is going first. When I was a kid, my friends and I would make ramps for our bikes - sometimes epic ramps. The kind of ramps that present a pass/fail scenario. Pass and you aren't broken, fail and you are.

Going first was exhilarating and hard.

That was years ago, but the same thing is true today. Creating something new (a business, new art, a new approach) is going first. It's looking at that rickety ramp and thinking yes.

Our parachute, if you will, is the truth that because of what Jesus has done we don't have to always win. He has won for us. When our bones slap the pavement, we can smile at what will soon be a cool scar and keep rolling.

Jesus went first.
