a voice crying out in the postmodern wilderness

What is Truth?

Pilate asked, "What is truth?"
This is a misguided question,
with the faulty presupposition
folded within it that the truth
we seek is a realization —
or maybe that truth isn't
knowable.

Yes, truth is true in that it isn't false.
Yes, truth is knowable.
No, truth doesn't vary on context or clouds.

We search for something that
won't leave us in smeared ashes.
As the floodwaters rush by,
we need a high place.

My God, I've made a mess of things.
I have lit fires and opened the locks,
and here I sit Monday morning.

Where is up, Pilate?

Truth is not mere knowledge;
truth is knowing the Immutable Man,
Jesus Christ.
